Because the energy pulses produced by the PicoSure laser are so short, less heat is generated and the skin surrounding the treatment area will not be affected. The PicoSure Experience

With PicoSure laser skin resurfacing, most patients reported very little discomfort. The sensation experienced during treatment is often compared to a warm, prickly sensation. Everyone’s threshold for pain or discomfort is different. Prior to the procedure, we use a topical numbing cream to make the procedure virtually painless.  If you feel this might be more than you can tolerate, discuss it with your physician.

The length of each treatment can vary depending on the size of the area being treated. On average, each treatment takes about ten minutes. The number of treatments necessary to achieve your desired results will also vary. The typical number of treatments needed ranges between two and five. Your physician will determine how many treatments are needed to address your specific condition.

When treating acne scars, the results are permanent. In most cases of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, the results are long-lasting. Some hyperpigmentation issues can re-occur and wrinkles may eventually reappear as a result of aging. Some patients have found the receiving PicoSure treatments every six months could help prevent the accumulation of pigment and slow the onset of wrinkles.
