Tirzepatide is the latest version of GLP-1 medications, having been approved to treat obesity and weight loss in 2023. It was first approved to treat diabetes in 2022, and only took 1 year for the FDA to approve it for weight loss. What makes tirzepatide different from semaglutide is that it mimics both the GLP-1 and GIP hormones, delivering more effective results for those looking to lose a significant amount of weight on a shorter timeline.
