CoolSculpting – Get Ready to Look Your Best for the Holidays

 In Aesthetics, Blog, CoolSculpting

The holidays are fast approaching and many of us will be attending family gatherings.  When visiting with relatives you only see once or twice a year, you want to look your best. After all, this is how they will remember you all year long. Don’t let a few stubborn bulges get in the way of having a streamlined physique for the holidays. CoolSculpting can help reduce and eliminate those annoying fat deposits that seem immune to diet and exercise.

What is CoolSculpting?

This unique treatment is a non-surgical fat reduction procedure that reduces the number of fat cells in treated areas. CoolSculpting uses a controlled cooling method known as Cryolipolysis. This process freezes fat cells in the treated area, causing them to die and later be naturally eliminated by the body. Since fat will freeze before other types of cells, the healthy skin cells in the surrounding area remain unaffected. As the dead cells are eliminated, your physique will become slimmer and more contoured.

History and Evolution

CoolSculpting was discovered by Harvard scientists. They noticed that children who ate a lot of popsicles had dimpled cheeks. This observation prompted the scientists to examine the effects of cold on fat. Fast forward to a little over seven years later and we have CoolSculpting!

Clinical trials were initiated in 2011, and in May of 2012 CoolSculpting received its first FDA clearance for the abdomen and flanks. In 2014, FDA clearance was received to treat the thighs and in 2015 to treat the double chin. In 2016, CoolSculpting received FDA clearance for three more areas, including bra fat, back fat, and fat below the buttocks, sometimes referred to as banana rolls.

With the most FDA clearances in the industry, Coolsculpting was also voted “Best Fat Reducing Treatment” 4 years in a row by the editors, readers, and contributors of New Beauty Magazine.

Are You a Good Candidate?

CoolSculpting is specifically designed for those who want to eliminate unwanted fat in targeted areas. It is not meant for the treatment of obesity or extreme weight loss. Good candidates for the procedure have noticeable bulges or small pockets of fat that are not impacted by diet and exercise.

CoolSculpting is not meant for the treatment of obesity and the ideal candidate should be 30 lbs or less away from their weight loss goal. CoolSculpting is also considered to be a great non-surgical alternative to liposuction. Consult with your local provider to determine if the procedure is right for you.

Treatments, Downtime, and Results

Each treatment generally lasts from 35 minutes to an hour. However, some patients have more than one area treated during the same office visit, which could extend the length of the visit. Some practices have multiple systems and applicators, making it possible for a patient to have multiple areas treated at once.

The number of treatments necessary varies with each individual. Patients often see results within one to two visits. Your CoolSculpting provider will create an individualized treatment plan with your specific goals in mind.

CoolSculpting is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately with no downtime. Patients often receive treatments on their lunch break and return to work after the treatment is completed.

You may begin to see changes as early as three weeks after your treatment. The most dramatic results will become evident after two months. Your body will still continue to flush out fat cells for up to 3 to 4 months after treatment.
